One Coat

Terms of Service

Last updated: June 12, 2026

1. The service

One Coat is operated by The Byte Quill LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("One Coat", "we"). It lets you upload a photo of a room and preview it repainted in colors matched to real paint products. Previews are generated by artificial intelligence.

2. Previews are approximations

AI-generated previews approximate how a color may look in your space. Actual paint appearance varies with lighting, surface texture, sheen, and application. Always confirm with a physical swatch or sample before buying paint. One Coat is not responsible for differences between a preview and real-world results.

3. Credits and payments

Each generated preview consumes one credit. New accounts receive a limited number of free credits; additional credits are sold in packs. Purchases are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. If a render fails, its credit is automatically returned. Credits have no cash value and are non-transferable. Refunds for purchased credits are handled per our Refund Policy, Paddle's buyer terms, and applicable law.

4. Your photos

You keep all rights to photos you upload. You grant One Coat a license to store and process them — including sending them to our AI provider — solely to operate and improve the service. Only upload photos you have the right to use, and don't upload photos containing people who haven't consented or content that is unlawful.

5. Fair use

Don't abuse the service: no circumventing free-credit limits (e.g. creating many accounts), no automated scraping or bulk generation, no attempts to manipulate the AI into producing content unrelated to paint previews, and no interfering with the service's operation. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

6. Trademarks

Sherwin-Williams, Behr, PPG, Valspar, Farrow & Ball, Dunn-Edwards, and other brand names are trademarks of their respective owners. Color names and codes are used to identify the corresponding paint products. One Coat is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any paint manufacturer.

7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law: (a) One Coat will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or the cost of substitute services — including costs of paint, materials, or labor purchased in reliance on a preview; and (b) One Coat's total liability for all claims related to the service will not exceed the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

8. Indemnification

You will indemnify One Coat against claims arising from photos or content you upload (including claims that you lacked rights to them) or from your violation of these terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts of Texas.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be noted on this page with a new date. Questions: elson@thebytequill.com.
